The Department of Education will start implementing the K+12 basic education program next year (academic year 2012-2013). The plan consists of kindergarten, 6 years of elementary education, 4 years of junior high school, and 2 years of senior high school. This new education plan revises the 10-year basic education program of the country that consists of 6 years of elementary education and just 4 years of high school education.
