The best way to know exactly how much house you can afford is to contact a mortgage company and get prequalified for a home loan. Contacting a mortgage broker may seem intimidating, however it will not cost you anything. I can refer you to mortgage brokers that are willing to walk you through the process. Prequalifying will also help you from wasting time looking at homes you cannot afford - and gives you more buying power when you put in an offer on a home. - Step Two: Choose an area.
