Webcam Resolution for a 6% Commission

Lydia Taylor May 1st, 2008

I don’t plan to regularly post these, but hey, you gotta post ‘em when you find ‘em. Next up in the lousy listing photos category is this little gem:

bad-mls.jpg

You guessed it. It’s the only photo provided in the MLS entry. I really feel sorry for these sellers.

I just purchased a new Canon Powershot 8 Megapixel digital camera so I could take better photos for my clients. So hopefully no other blog will be posting any of my photos anytime soon.

What a horrible picture, I think this category is great and it’s good to throw some agents under the bus when they do bad work like this. I get so frustrated at times when you are looking for property and you find agents that use one photo. I wont even take the time to look much further. I only wish that owner of the property could see what a poor job their agent is doing at representing them!!

The sad thing is that the sellers probably don’t realize what a lousy agent they have and they will never see the listing. That picture looks like it was taken through a window. The old drive by photo, lol.

That’s hilarious. I agree that the sellers probably have no idea that their agent is horrible, and that’s sad. But…. Maybe someone will point the agent to your post, and it will inspire them to up their game a little. :-)

The minute the owner saw the agent pull out this camera they should have snatch the seller agent agreement out of their folder and ripped it up….lol they don’t know how to sell homes.

Anyway thanks for the funny post.

Your title says it all! LOL.

How true is that - you turn around and ask for 6% and this is the marketing that you offer???

I am seeing lots of these types of photo’s taken from REO agents in tough neighborhoods. Can’t say that I blame them too much. Some of these neighborhoods I wouldn’t get out of the car either. But if that is the case, don’t take on the REO.

I think this is my pet peeve. Our MLS allows 12 pictures(12!).You find a property that fits the bill and
you see a picture like the one you posted. Even after a couple of weeks, still the same horrible picture.
I don’t care what you are being paid to list a property or if you are listing it free, my phone camera will take better
pictures than that and it will take more than one. My question is -If that picture is the best they can do
what do the others look like?

Yep, pretty amazing isn’t it? I hate it on two levels: agents like this give those of us who perform well a bad reputation; and the sellers are being represented poorly and there is nothing I can do about it due to licensing law.

No agent can even warn the sellers, no matter how patently ridiculous it is, without risking their RE license. Grr!

Looks like the picture is a picture of a magazine clipping!!! Just remember the most important part of the camera is the 12 inches that goes behind it.

I’ve seen many of these type of pictues. They look like the Agent didn’t even get out of his/her car - they just slowed down and took the picture…haha.
