2007 Kelsi Long Memorial Ride
Lydia Taylor March 24th, 2007
My husband and I went along on the 2007 Kelsi Memorial Ride to benefit the MCG Children’s Center. This was the 5th time for this annual event, and about 185 bikes of all makes and models went along. This was quite an increase over last year’s event, which had about 125 motorcyclists. We were riding toward the end of the line, and we could see neither the lead riders or the end of the bikes!! The riders raised approximately $3,750 for the Hospital, and a large group was along from UPS. The guys in Brown donated $15,000 last year and they are trying to match that this year.
The route went from Augusta Harley-Davidson up to the South Carolina Visitor’s Center at Strom Thurmond Dam, where we all had a short break and some refreshments. Then it was back in the saddle down to the hospital, where some of the children were out to see the bikes. The group retired from there back to the Harley dealership for lunch. Special thanks to the guys in blue- law enforcement did an excellent job of keeping the intersections clear for the riders. It was a safe event, and much fun was had by all. We can’t wait for next year!!
