The State of the Union in Real Estate Blogging
Lydia Taylor April 26th, 2007
Our local readers know by now that the Elegant Augusta GA Real Estate Blog is an authority on local interest topics, but what about on the national level? Have you looked around for decent reading on real estate in general?
Well, I am sad to say the list of good blogs is short, but that the creme of the crop is really really good!
I’ve found the Real Estate Tomato to be a really nice blog. It’s not real estate-centric, which is nice. It’s just a well written, well thought out blog that tries to help us bloggers in the real estate trenches be better bloggers. The site design is amazing- the theme is unique, eye-catching, and has a flair which makes visiting the tomato a feast for the eyes.
Another strong online offering is Sellsius real estate blog. The content is definitely there. The posting frequency is high enough that if you miss a day or two you’ll be missing a lot- it’s almost more of a newspaper than a blog. The writers really love the real estate industry, and it comes across. The posts are often funny and entertaining, especially when the poke fun at sites like Zillow. If only they would fix that sidebar to the right! What a trainwreck! Can they put any more icons over there? Lol!
In the category of strong news, we have The Phoenix Real Estate Guy. The best news posts are found here. He really has his finger on the pulse of the industry and it shows. This blog has been around a long time in blog terms- several years. Here’s to you Mr. Phoenix Real Estate Guy!

Finally, we can’t close out this mini-review of the real estate blogging industry without mentioning I am Facing Foreclosure dot Com. This young fart got greedy in real estate investing - probably watching too many Flip this House episodes on TLC - and buried himself in debt. The jury is still out on him- will he make good on the disaster he’s created? One thing is for sure, he is the poster child of real estate investing failure. Lucky him! His his readership alternately blasts and praises him, which makes good reading. The comments to the posts alone are worth a visit.

Thanks Lydia, for putting Sellsius on your short list of blogs with our blog buddies Jim Cronin & Jay Thompson.
We appreciate your kind words and yeah, our sidebar is a bit on the quirky side. We thought of doing the conventional “Best Posts” links but said “heck, let’s use images instead”. We are “visuals” so we went that route. Not to everyone’s liking but we get a laugh from it. We learned sometime ago that we are not good at following the rules and we often color outside the lines. Plus, we like to have a little fun.
But ultimately we love real estate and the people in the industry and our goal is to promote the people as well as the industry.
In fact, today we just launched our real estate classifieds site.
Continued success with your blog and my best wishes to you.
Lydia-
Certainly a nice list you have here - I enjoy all the blogs you mentioned. I just wanted to let you know that there is quite a long list of real estate blogs on the Zillow wiki - both industry blogs as well as local blogs.

Best of luck with your blog!!
Well thanks Lydia! Just for the record, The Phoenix Real Estate Guy is approaching it’s second birthday (May 8 — Mark it on your calendar!). That’s still well into middle age for a real estate blog though, and may even qualify for senior citizen status.
I appreciate the kind words. Being mentioned in the same post with the Tomato and Sellsius is truly an honor!!
Casey Serin is a bumbling fool, and a crook in my opinion, but it certainly is entertaining reading.
Nice place you have here, I’ll add it to my feedreader!
My lifelong (and probably never to be realized) goal is to play a round at Augusta National… it is *the* perfect golf course. Of course if I got out there and hacked big giant divots out of the fairways, I’m sure the membership would not be pleased…
Lydia-
Nice list you have here. I can’t fault your selections!
Thanks to all of you for your very nice comments! I hope you enjoyed my humble blog and it was quite an amazing surprise to see I had been visited by such big players in the industry!
There was one other site I’d hoped to mention and just didn’t, that’s the http://www.bloodhoundrealty.com/BloodhoundBlog/. Maybe I can do another post on them sometime.
As to playing a round at the National, Jay, I’m afraid I can’t help you there! I happen to know that there are approximately 300 members of the Augusta National, and about 25 of them live here in Augusta. I also know absolutely none of them personally. If I make any friends, I’ll make sure you know.

I love the mention! And what great company.
Your site is very nicely organized and inviting. Best of luck in attracting the audience that wants to work with you… I would
