Lydia Taylor's Real Estate Article Archive
On the following sub-pages I’ve collected various resources I've written to help home buyers and sellers. You can access them from the dropdown on the side navigation bar. Originally intended to help promote my Elegant Augusta Real Estate Blog, most of these were published by myself using resources like E-zine. I no longer write very many articles, partly because I cover most topics on my blog and partly because I don't have much time anymore!
The first two articles: Tips for sellers and Tips for Buyers are collections of things you should do before you put your home on the market - and things you surely need to do before you start looking for a new home.
My 12 Good Reasons not to FSBO is..a list of reasons why you shouldn’t trust selling your home to anything less than a pro. One of my more 'famous' works, this article has been published and discussed quite a lot around the internet. I wholeheartedly encourage ANYONE to avoid the foolhardy practice of 'For Sale by Owner'. What works with boats and used cars is simply not appropriate for a six-figure transaction. The legal implications of error are disastrous- and after all, you do want to sell your house for the right money, quickly, don't you?
The next article you might want to read is What Home Improvements add Home Value? In this piece I try to answer a common question I get 'in the field'. You are not alone if you are trying to maximize your budget by spending your home improvement money on items that will get bang for the buck at the closing table. This article can give you a few ideas how to do that.
Home Staging is a short article about what everyone knows they should do when selling a home, but rarely act upon. A little bit of work here and there will save you work later, and potentially save or make some money to boot! Don't just study home staging- follow up on it and help yourself out!
Last but hopefully not least is 10 Tempting Tips to Increase Home Value. I'm especially proud of this one because my 'muse' was right on that day and I think it's pretty well-written article. I hope you agree.
