Hellboy Director Guillermo Del Toro Tweets About The 'Aswang', A Monster In Filipino Folklore

The aswang which is probably the most well-known monster in Filipino folklore was mentioned in a recent tweet by the popular Mexican film director Guillermo Del Toro. The famed director tweeted, "The Aswang (Filipino Vampire) feeds on the unborn via unorthodox methods. Eerily, it clucks like hen." The tweet is one of several he wrote about Vampire Fun Facts. Prior to his tweet about the aswang, Del Toro also tweeted about the shroud-eaters in ancient Europe and the "stake through the heart" method of eliminating vampires.

The aswang myth is especially prevalent in the Visayan region (Capiz, Negros, Aklan, Siquijor, Iloilo, Bohol, and and Antique). In fact, over the years, numerous accounts of aswang sightings in said provinces have been reported on the media. Descriptions of the aswang vary. However, they are usually described as shape-shifters. This means they have the ability to transform from humans into animal creatures like dogs, cats, and birds. The mythical monster has been featured numerous times in Filipino movies, television shows, documentaries, novels, and comic books.

With Del Toro tweeting about the aswang, does this mean we'll be seeing it one of his movies soon? Unlikely but it's good to hear that the famous director has at least noticed one of the most important figures in Filipino folklore and mythology.
It's not surprising at all that Del Toro knows about the aswang. The man has shown an immense passion for all things monstrous and bizarre. He is after all the director behind such films as Cronos, Mimic, The Devil's Backbone, Blade II, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Pacific Rim, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and the upcoming romantic horror Crimson Peak.

Interviewer Asks Chris Pratt If He Was A Dinosaur Kid. Pratt's Response Was Perfect And Funny.

Ah, Chris Pratt. How can anyone not love this guy. He's good-looking. He's down-to-earth. And he's too damn funny. In a recent interview wherein he talked about his movie Jurassic World, he was asked if he loved dinosaurs when he was young. It's a good question. But the interviewer's poor choice in wording the question opened up yet another portal for Pratt to sweep in with his humor.

Interviewer: Were you a dinosaur kid?
Pratt: I was a human kid. Which is different from a dinosaur kid. But as a human kid, I was interested in dinosaurs.

Classic Pratt. Jurassic World is now showing in theaters near you. In it, Pratt plays a dinosaur trainer named Owen Grady. Go watch it now!

Singer Alfonso "Chito" Miranda Defends Girlfriend Neri Naig on Facebook

After an intimate video of Chito Miranda and his girlfriend Neri Naig was leaked online, netizens started bashing the two. Most of the ill comments were however directed to Neri, an actress. Today, Miranda has posted a message on his Facebook wall defending his girlfriend. Accompanying the post is a photo of Neri (full name: Nerizza Naig) playing a game with Aeta children. As of this writing, the message has been shared over eight thousand times (8000). Below is the full text of said message:

"This is my girlfriend, Neri.

She's an actress. Though she is not as sikat as the others, she is happy and content.

Not many people know this, but whenever she has time to spare, she'd go and visit her favorite aeta village along with her friends, and hang out with the aetas, simply because she enjoys it.

She'd collect and bring used, worn-out school books and read to the kids, trying to help them learn to read as well. She'd bring school supplies na binili sa divisoria, sit down with the kids, and teach them how to write their names. She'd bring snacks, and sometimes would even set up games for the kids in the community.

She was never applauded for this, nor was she famous for it, and also had no major reasons for doing it. No floods. No calamities. Nothing. She does it because she loves doing it.

Aside from fishing, gardening, and taking care of her pets, this is what she does on her spare time.

I don't really care what other people think or say about me (opinion nila yan eh...and I respect that), but i do care about what they say about my girlfriend, and i have one simple question for those who have a problem with her, regarding their self-righteous beliefs and opinions on morality, tastelessly expressed through their hateful comments:

What do you do on your spare time aside from bashing helpless girls on the internet?

Whatever it is, i honestly hope it makes you happy.

Me and my girlfriend are NOT saints obviously (me, being very far from it), but she is a good person and those who really know her, know that she is.

And I love her very much.

Sa lahat ng mga open-minded na tao na patuloy na nag pakita ng respeto at pagmamahal sa amin ni Neri, regardless of what we are going through, maraming maraming salamat po."
